WHAT WE TREAT
Poor Sleep Is Not Something You Just Live With.
Depression is not sadness, weakness, or something you can push through. It is a medical condition and with the right diagnosis and care, most people see real, meaningful improvement.

WHAT IS INSOMNIA
More Than a Few Bad Nights.
Insomnia disorder is persistent difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking too early despite having adequate time to sleep. To meet clinical criteria, it must occur at least three nights per week for at least three months and cause meaningful impairment in daily functioning.
Left untreated, chronic insomnia significantly increases the risk of depression, anxiety, cardiovascular disease, and reduced quality of life.
At Access Alliance, we evaluate the root causes, identify any co-occurring conditions, and build a treatment plan designed for lasting improvement.
TYPE 01
Acute Insomnia: Short-term sleep difficulty triggered by stress or a major life event. Lasts days to weeks and often resolves on its own.
TYPE 02
Chronic Insomnia Disorder: Sleep difficulty at least three nights per week for three months or more, causing significant daytime impairment. Requires clinical treatment.
TYPE 03
Comorbid Insomnia: Insomnia occurring alongside depression, anxiety, PTSD, or ADHD. Treating sleep in isolation is rarely effective in these cases.
TYPE 04
Psychophysiological Insomnia: A learned pattern where worry about not sleeping becomes the primary driver. Highly responsive to behavioral treatment.
Symptoms and How It Shows Up
Recognizing Insomnia in Daily Life.
Insomnia is more than lying awake at night. Its effects spill into every waking hour in ways that are easy to attribute to other causes.
Difficulty falling asleep
Lying awake for 30 minutes or more despite feeling tired and wanting to sleep.
Waking during the night
Frequent awakenings with difficulty returning to sleep, leaving you unrefreshed by morning.
Early morning waking
Waking earlier than intended and being unable to return to sleep regardless of fatigue.
Daytime fatigue
Persistent tiredness that affects your ability to function, focus, and engage with your life.
Cognitive difficulties
Trouble concentrating, remembering, or making decisions. Sleep deprivation significantly impairs cognitive performance.
Irritability and mood changes
Increased irritability and emotional reactivity that strain relationships and daily quality of life.
HOW WE EVALUATE & TREAT
Finding the Root Cause. Building a Plan That Lasts.
Effective insomnia treatment starts with understanding why you are not sleeping. Insomnia driven by anxiety requires a different approach than insomnia driven by depression or a behavioral pattern.
Medication is not always the first or best answer. We follow evidence-based guidelines and prioritize treatments that build sustainable sleep habits alongside appropriate psychiatric care.
- \Comprehensive sleep and psychiatric evaluation
A detailed clinical interview covering your sleep history, patterns, contributing factors, and any co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
- \Identifying and treating co-occurring conditions
Anxiety, depression, PTSD, and ADHD are common contributors. We treat both the sleep disorder and any underlying condition together.
- \Medication management when appropriate
When medication is indicated, we prescribe carefully and monitor closely without defaulting to long-term sleep medication without clear clinical rationale.
- \Ongoing follow-up and adjustment
Regular check-ins to track progress, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and adjust your care plan as needed.
