WHAT WE TREAT

OCD Is Not About Being Neat or Organized.

OCD is a serious, often debilitating condition involving intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors that can consume hours of your day. It is widely misunderstood and it is treatable.

WHAT IS OCD

Far More Than a Punchline.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is a chronic condition characterized by two core features: obsessions and compulsions. Obsessions are unwanted, intrusive thoughts, images, or urges that cause significant distress. Compulsions are repetitive behaviors or mental rituals performed to temporarily reduce that distress.

OCD is not about liking things clean or organized. For most people who live with it, the cycle of obsessions and compulsions is exhausting, time-consuming, and deeply distressing. Many people spend years struggling before receiving an accurate diagnosis.

At Access Alliance, we specialize in accurate OCD diagnosis and evidence-based treatment, coordinating with ERP-trained therapists to give you the most effective care available.

TYPE 01

Contamination OCD: Fear of germs or illness driving compulsive cleaning, handwashing, or avoidance of perceived sources of contamination.

TYPE 02

Harm OCD: Intrusive thoughts about harming yourself or others, causing intense distress and compulsive checking or avoidance behaviors.

TYPE 03

Symmetry and Ordering OCD: An overwhelming need for things to feel “just right,” consuming significant time and interfering with daily functioning.

TYPE 04

Intrusive Thought OCD: Unwanted, taboo thoughts of a religious, sexual, or violent nature that cause intense shame and distress despite conflicting with personal values.

TYPE 05

Pure O (Purely Obsessional): Obsessions with no visible compulsions. Rituals are internal, such as mental reassurance-seeking, reviewing, or thought neutralizing.

Symptoms and How It Shows Up

Recognizing Insomnia in Daily Life.

OCD looks different for everyone. Some symptoms are visible. Many are entirely internal. All are real and all deserve proper treatment.

Intrusive thoughts

Unwanted, distressing thoughts that feel impossible to control or dismiss, regardless of how much they conflict with your values.

Repetitive compulsions

Rituals performed over and over such as checking, counting, cleaning, or repeating actions until they feel complete.

}

Time-consuming rituals

OCD symptoms can consume one or more hours per day, significantly interfering with work, school, and daily life.

Reassurance-seeking

Repeatedly asking others for confirmation that everything is okay, a compulsion that provides only brief, temporary relief.

Avoidance behaviors

Avoiding people, places, or situations that trigger obsessions, which can progressively narrow daily functioning.

Shame and secrecy

Many people with OCD feel profound shame about their thoughts. This keeps them from seeking help, sometimes for years.

HOW WE EVALUATE & TREAT

Accurate Diagnosis. Evidence-Based Treatment.

OCD is frequently misdiagnosed as generalized anxiety, depression, or ADHD. Getting the diagnosis right is essential because the most effective treatment for OCD, ERP therapy, is distinct from standard anxiety treatment and requires specialist coordination.

At Access Alliance we evaluate thoroughly, diagnose accurately, and build a coordinated care plan that combines psychiatric support with access to ERP-trained therapists.

  • \Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation

A thorough clinical interview covering the nature, frequency, and impact of your obsessions and compulsions, plus a full psychiatric history.

  • \Ruling out misdiagnosis

OCD is commonly confused with anxiety disorders, ADHD, and depression. We take time to distinguish OCD clearly before recommending treatment.

  • \ERP therapy

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the gold-standard treatment for OCD.

  • \Medication management

We prescribe, monitor, and adjust carefully based on your response.

  • \Ongoing follow-up and adjustment

Regular check-ins to track progress, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and adjust your care plan as needed.

You Do Not Have to Keep Managing This Alone.

OCD Is Treatable. The Right Care Makes a Real Difference.

If intrusive thoughts or compulsive behaviors are taking up significant time in your day, a proper evaluation is the first step. We are here to listen without judgment and build a plan that works.
